Parish Mission Statement
St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish is a Catholic community,
called to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ; and we
welcome all to join us. We fulfill this Call by our
worship of God, our witness to one another and to the
world, and by our service to all those in need. Our goal
is to affirm the individual gifts in people of all ages
so that they may continue to grow in their faith and be
ministers of the Gospel...One with God and one another.

Reflections on Lent and Holy Week
Christ Living Among Us
I would like to express my appreciation and thanks for your wonderful participation during Lent by attending Mass, the Stations of the Cross, general prayerful disposition and many other ways in which you walked the Way of the Cross this Lent, truly living the motto “Will you turn away from sin and believe in the good news?”
I am very much impressed by the individual participation in decorations and preparation for the Holy Triduum. I thank you for your disposition and for your presence as well as your gifts of talent and time. I have been deeply touched by the way in which everyone’s dignity and professionalism was expressed, you graced our Masses as did the beautiful flowers.
Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for the profound sense of respect at the Seven Last Words of Christ, and to the Youth Group for their representation of the Stations of the Cross; what a great group of young people we have at St. Maximilian Kolbe. The Fish Fry and the Latino food sales were a great opportunity to meet and get to know many parishioners.
The Easter vigil was grace filled by all those that attended and participated in welcoming those receiving full communion in the Church. Special thanks to our music ministry members and volunteers for the beautiful music they presented us with, as well as the long hours of preparation.
I would like to extend to you a Blessing this Easter Season and if you are leaving for the summer months, take it with you and may you come back to us safely.

PRAYER FOR POPE FRANCIS
O God, shepherd and ruler of all the faithful, look favorably on your servant Francis, whom you have set at the head of your Church as her shepherd;
Grant, we pray, that by word and example
he may be of service to those over whom he presides
so that, together with the flock entrusted to his
care, he may come to everlasting life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and
ever.
Amen.

Diocese of Venice Prayer for the Year of Faith
O my God, I firmly believe that You are one
God in three divine persons, Father, Son and Holy
Spirit. I believe that Your divine Son became man
and died for our sins, and that he will come to
judge the living and the dead. I believe these and
all the truths the holy Catholic Church teaches
because You have revealed them, who can neither
deceive nor be deceived. In this faith I intend to
live and die.
We turn to you in humble supplication for ourselves and our Parish and Diocese in which we work, live, and pray, that this Year of Faith may be a true source of renewal for each of us. May we be strengthened to live our faith in the midst of the world with joy and love. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

WHAT IS
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Eucharistic
adoration is the act of worshiping God as He is
present in the consecrated Eucharist. Since the Last
Supper, when Jesus broke the bread and distributed the
wine, saying, “This is my Body” and “This is my
Blood,” Catholics have believed that the bread and
wine are no longer merely baked wheat and fermented
grape juice, but the actual living presence of the
Second Person of the Trinity. Spending time before the
Blessed Sacrament, in prayer and devotion, is exactly
the same as spending time before the living God.
Adoration occurs whenever someone kneels in front of a
tabernacle that contains the Blessed Sacrament.
Genuflects toward a tabernacle, bows before receiving
the Blessed Sacrament at Mass, or, in a more focused
way, when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for
adoration

POWER
FOR SANCTIFICATION
Baptism in the Spirit is a discovery of the Holy Spirit’s power to lead us to deeper conversion and holiness of life. This is often manifested in a newfound authority to resist sinful tendencies, a freedom from addictions or deep-rooted patterns of sin, and the healing of relationships, especially in marriage and the family.
The cross and resurrection of Christ come to be known as not only an event of the past but a present source of grace enabling us to die to sin and live for God. There is a newly awakened attentiveness to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, which leads to a deeper obedience to the Lord. Growth in holiness becomes less a matter of self-striving and more a yielding to the Holy Spirit. Where people respond to this grace in a consistent way, there is a lived experience of the Christian life as described in the New Testament, an ordered life of mutual love under the influence of the Holy Spirit (se Rom 12:1-21; Eph 4:1-3; Col 3:12-17), showing forth the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23).

The first Sunday of each month at the 9:00 am Mass will be designated the Family Mass, where children and their families will be involved in the Mass. If your child is interested, please contact Cindy K. at 743-6877 or cindyrk@stmaxcatholic.org.
THE PASTORAL MASSWe hope you join us where the Holy Spirit is alive and on fire within our hearts and souls! The Pastoral Mass is celebrated the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to the Holy Eucharist. This Mass is in English and Spanish.
A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS SERVING IN THE DIOCESEO
Jesus, Eternal High Priest,
live in the priests serving in the Diocese of Venice,
act in them, speak in and through them.
Think
your thoughts in their minds, love through their
hearts.
Give them your own disposition and feelings.
Teach, lead and guide them always. Correct,
enlighten and expand their thoughts and behavior.
Possess their souls, take over their lives.
Replace them with yourself.
Incline them to constant adoration and thanksgiving;
pray in and through them.
Let them live in you and keep them in this intimate
union always.
O
Mary, Immaculate Conception,
Mother of Jesus and Mother of priests,
pray and intercede for them.
Amen
Remember, the gift
shop is a great way to share our stewardship of treasure,
because each donation goes to the parish Catholic Faith
Appeal assessment. Stop in after Mass on the weekend
or during the week through the parish office. Mass
cards/Mass Intentions are available in the Gift
Shop.
The gift shop is celebrating one year!
God, our Father, I turn to you seeking your divine help and guidance as I look for suitable employment. I need your wisdom to guide my footsteps along the right path, and to lead me to find the proper things to say and do in this quest. I wish to use the gifts and talents you have given me, but I need the opportunity to do so with gainful employment. Do not abandon me, dear Father, in this search, but rather grant me this favor I seek so that I may return to you with praise and thanksgiving for your gracious assistance. Grant this through Christ, our Lord. Amen
BEREAVEMENT(Grief Support)This ministry provides support to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Volunteers are needed to assist the coordinators with the planned grief sessions for seven weeks twice a year. For more information or to apply, call the parish office (743-6877).
MASS INTENTIONIf you would like to reserve a Mass Intention, you may do so in the gift shop on weekends and in the parish office during office hours.
SANCTUARY CANDLE If you would like to reserve one of the two
Sanctuary Candles in memory of someone, please

Parishioners consider volunteering
How shall I make a return to the Lord for all the good he has done for me? Psalm 116
The parish is blessed to have many volunteers supporting
its many ministries and/or organizations with their time,
talent, and treasure. We encourage our parishioners to
consider volunteering with the parish because there is
always a need for more assistance. However, in order to
become a volunteer with the parish, there are diocesan
requirements that must be fulfilled. All volunteers must
complete required paperwork, attend one Safe Environment
workshop and receive proper training. Volunteers applying
for a position with children and vulnerable adults such as
Faith Formation, Homebound Eucharistic Minister, and
Children's Choir, etc. must be fingerprinted.
