Registration forms are available in the parish office for religious education and sacramental prep classes. Classes for religious education are offered for ages Pre-K through 8th grade. Register early to reserve a spot for your child, as we have limited space in our classrooms. Registrations MUST be turned in no later than August 1, 2023

A Pre-K and kindergarten class will be available if there are enough children to have a class. The class would take place during the 10:00 am mass on Sundays.

1st – 8th grade religious education classes are scheduled on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm – 7:45pm.

Sacramental prep classes for First Communion are scheduled for two Monday nights a month at 6:30 PM. The child must have a year of religious education before entering into sacramental prep classes for First Communion.

Confirmation classes are scheduled Sunday afternoons  from 1:00pm – 2:15pm (Year 1 and Year 2) . If you have any questions concerning any of these classes, please contact Cindy Kuykendall at 941-743-6877. All those enrolled in confirmation classes must attend Mass on Sundays and are encouraged to attend the 12:00pm mass with Ms. Cindy.

St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church Faith Formation Program Participation Guidelines:

  •  All families and children participating in the Faith Formation Program must be registered and active parishioners of St.Maximilian Kolbe.
  •  A copy of the child’s Baptismal certificate must be included with the registration form.
  •  A registration fee of $45.00 per student applies to anyone registering for Faith Formation classes.
  •  An additional fee of $30.00 if the student is enrolled in Sacramental Prep classes
  • The registration fee covers the cost of books and materials associated with the program.
    * Financial assistance is available to any family who is unable to pay the registration fee.
  • The spiritual education of your child is important to us and every child who wants a Catholic education deserves one.

Reconciliation and First Communion Preparation for Parents and Children

Monday 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. — All classrooms

The candidates preparing for First Communion and Reconciliation will be using Encounter With Christ Reconciliation and Eucharist, published by Our Sunday Visitor. The first session of each month will begin with parents in the church and the candidates in their assigned classrooms.

All candidates are expected to participate regularly in the Sunday Eucharist and in ongoing formal faith formation. All candidates and their parents or guardians are also expected to attend and participate in all sacramental preparation sessions for parents.

Parents are required to attend the monthly parent meetings that take place at the same time the children are in class. Please see the schedule for dates.

Confirmation Preparation

Confirmation is a 2 year program with the first year starting in 9th grade.
Sunday 1:00pm – 2:15pm (year 1 and year 2). room #106.
The candidates are also required to attend Mass and will be encouraged to attend the 12:00 pm mass with Ms. Cindy. The candidates preparing for Confirmation will be using Decision Point by Dynamic Catholic.

Religious Education

Tuesdays 6:30 – 7:45 pm

Grades 1st – 8th
We will be using Pflaum Gospel Weeklies, published by Pflaum, at grade-appropriate levels. Children will bring home materials each week. Please take the time to review them with your child. At this age children will learn about Prayer and worship, Church Doctrines, and other aspects of our Catholic faith. The children will also receive further instruction about the sacraments they will receive.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS:

Baptism Preparation: Classes for baptism are held once a month on a Thursday evening at 7pm. Classes are offered in both English and Spanish. If attending the class please contact the parish office at (941) 743-6877 and sign up for the class. Parents and Godparents are required to attend the class.

RCIA: For those adults who wish to join the Catholic Church or to complete their initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist) preparation begins in September 2023, please contact the church office for more information.
